What is markdown 

Markdown is the markup language that allows you to write plain text to convert html. Markdown language was created by John Gruber and Aaron Swartz in 2004. Markdown is super easy to use. 

Markdown syntax 

Markdown is the easiest way to style text on the web. You control the display of the document; formaing words as bold or italic, adding images, and creating lists are just a few of the things we can do with Markdown. Mostly, Markdown is just regular text with a few non-alphabetic characters thrown in, like ## or  *. Download the markdown cheat sheet pdf to see all of the syntax.

Extended Syntax

These elements extend the basic syntax by adding additional features. Not all Markdown applications support these elements.
